Immunisation coverage (%) – the proportion of individuals who have received a specific vaccine.
Target group population – the number of children at the age specified for receiving a particular vaccine according to the national schedule.

The Centre for Disease Prevention and Control analyses immunisation coverage among children based on the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations (World Health Organization. Assessing and Improving the Accuracy of Target Population Estimates for Immunization Coverage. Working Draft. 2015) for calculating immunisation coverage. Immunisation coverage are calculated using a single denominator source - population statistics from the Central Statistical Bureau Republic of Latvia.
The Centre for Disease Prevention and Control applies the administrative method for calculating immunisation indicators.

Denominator. Population data as of the beginning of the year are obtained from the Central Statistical Bureau Republic of Latvia databases.
Calculation of immunisation coverage = total number of vaccinated children / total number of children in the target group *100
